Legend of Chandrika Devi Temple
According to Hindu legend, Goddess Chandi once protected Rajkumar Chandraketu, the elder brother of Lakshmana, from harm. One fateful evening, while riding alongside the Gomti River on his horse Ashhwamegh, the prince decided to rest for the night. As darkness fell, he prayed to Goddess Chandi for protection. Miraculously, she responded by illuminating the surroundings with a flood of moonlight, ensuring his safety.
Grateful for her divine intervention, Rajkumar Chandraketu and his followers decided to build a temple at the very spot where this celestial event occurred, dedicating it to Goddess Chandi. This historical and mythical connection continues to attract pilgrims and visitors to the temple.
