The National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, located 20 km from the city, is India’s first tri-service academy, training future leaders of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Set in a sprawling 7,000-acre campus in Khadakwasla, the NDA is renowned for its prestigious Passing Out Parade and its role in shaping military excellence.
Founded in 1956, the NDA’s rich history is intertwined with India’s military heritage, paying tribute to the sacrifices of its war heroes through memorials on campus. The academy trains cadets in both academics and military skills, preparing them for further training in their respective branches. It is globally recognized for its standards, having trained cadets from multiple countries.
Visitors can tour the academy with prior permission, especially during special events like the Passing Out Parade. Key landmarks within the campus include the Sudan Block, Khetarpal Parade Ground, and the Central Cadets' Mess, which foster camaraderie among the services.
