Overview:

Located along the serene banks of the Ganges River, Green Park Stadium in Kanpur is a historic cricket ground known for its long legacy. Established in 1945, the stadium was originally called Modi Stadium and was later renamed to Green Park. It has a seating capacity of 32,000 and is the only international cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh, hosting Test and One-Day matches.

One of its unique features is the largest manually operated scoreboard in the world. The stadium is known for its Student’s Gallery, a distinctive section dedicated to students, making it a one-of-a-kind feature in the country.

The Green Park Stadium is managed by the Uttar Pradesh Sports Department and is considered one of the premier venues for cricket in India, with significant national and international matches being played here.

Infrastructure:

The stadium boasts modern amenities and infrastructure, including a newly constructed three-storey pavilion. The pavilion includes spacious dressing rooms, dining areas for both teams, and separate rooms for the umpires and third umpire, along with a common gym. Two additional stands have been built to accommodate VIPs and government officials.

Despite its slightly dated pitches and floodlights, Green Park Stadium remains an iconic landmark for cricket fans. The Mill Pavilion End and Hostel End are key sections, adding to the charm of this historic stadium.
