Overview
Perched atop the 'Cheel ka Teela' hills, Jaigarh Fort is a majestic structure offering panoramic views of Jaipur. Built in 1726 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II to protect Amer Fort, this "Fort of Victory" remains unconquered throughout history. The fort is famous for housing the world’s largest cannon on wheels, Jaivana, and for its strategic location. Connecting to Amer Fort through secret underground passages, Jaigarh Fort’s imposing walls and historical significance make it a must-visit in Jaipur.

History
Jaigarh Fort has a rich history, serving as a military stronghold and cannon foundry during the Mughal era. It also played a key role during the wars of the Mughal dynasty. The fort’s treasure, rumored to be buried beneath it, was allegedly seized by the Rajasthan government in the 1970s.

Architecture
Jaigarh Fort features striking red sandstone walls stretching across 3 km. Within the fort are impressive structures like Lalit Mandir, Vilas Mandir, and Laxmi Vilas, along with temples dating back to the 10th and 12th centuries. The fort’s highlight is the Jaivana Cannon, still one of the largest cannons in the world, along with an armory, museum, and lush gardens. The Aram Mandir offers views of the nearby Sagar Lake.

Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to visit is from November to February when the weather is cool and pleasant. The fort is especially beautiful during the monsoon when the surrounding hills are lush and green.
