On 13th April 1919, thousands of innocent men, women, and children gathered in the garden to peacefully celebrate Baisakhi, a religious festival. Without any warning, British forces led by General Dyer opened fire on the crowd, killing an estimated 1,500 people and injuring thousands more. This horrific massacre is forever etched in the history of India's fight for freedom.
