Overview

Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore is a lush, 240-acre haven for nature lovers, home to over 1,854 plant species. Established in 1760 by Hyder Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan, the garden features rare plants from across the globe, including those from French, Persian, and Afghan origins. A major highlight is the 3,000-million-year-old Lalbagh Rock, a fascinating geological feature.

The garden is renowned for its vibrant glass house, which hosts an annual flower show, as well as an aquarium and a scenic lake. Over time, Tipu Sultan introduced plants from around the world, contributing to Lalbagh’s status as one of the largest collections of rare plants globally.

Lalbagh hosts spectacular flower shows every Republic and Independence Day, showcasing vibrant flowers like Cymbidium, Begonia, and Fuchsia. The colorful displays are a photographer’s paradise.
