History of Lalgarh Palace
Lalgarh Palace was conceived by Maharaja Ganga Singh, who ruled Bikaner from the age of seven. His vision for the palace was to build a modern retreat, distinct from the ancient Junagarh Fort, reflecting his progressive ideas. Designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, the palace was constructed in stages, and its cost grew due to the use of exquisite materials and fine craftsmanship.
After the palace's completion, it remained a private residence until 1974, when parts of it were converted into heritage hotels under the Maharaja Gangaji Trust. Today, it continues to serve as a symbol of royal magnificence and is managed by the current royal family.
Architecture of Lalgarh Palace
