Located along the Pali-Jodhpur Highway (NH65), the Om Banna Temple, famously known as the Bullet Baba Temple, is one of the most unique religious sites in Rajasthan. Situated about 50 km from Jodhpur, this small shrine is dedicated to Om Singh Rathore, who tragically passed away in an accident at the temple’s location. What makes this temple fascinating is the story of his bike, a 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet, which has become the object of worship.

A Sacred Legend

The temple’s history is steeped in mystery. In 1991, Om Singh Rathore died in an accident at the very spot where the temple stands. His Royal Enfield Bullet was taken by the police but mysteriously reappeared at the accident site every time it was removed. This event led the locals to believe that Om Singh’s spirit was watching over travelers. Now, the bike is encased in a glass case within the temple, and devotees offer flowers, incense, coconuts, and even bottles of alcohol as tributes. It is believed that offering prayers at the temple ensures a safe journey.

Architecture of Om Banna Temple

The temple itself is simple but captivating. Constructed from cane and wood, it features a stone platform where a bust of Om Singh Rathore stands, surrounded by hanging temple bells. The Royal Enfield bike sits on another raised stone platform, protected by a glass casing with a makeshift bamboo roof. The motorcycle is cleaned daily, and devotees visit regularly to pay their respects.

How to Reach Om Banna Temple

The Om Banna Temple is conveniently located about 53 km from Jodhpur, easily accessible by road. To get there, take NH62 towards Pali, passing Hotel Rajputana Heights as a key landmark. You can hire a cab, take a self-driven vehicle, or use state transport buses for the journey, which takes approximately an hour. If you're arriving from Jodhpur, you can also take a train to Jodhpur Junction or fly into Jodhpur Airport, both of which are about 50 km from the temple.
