Built in the 18th century, this lush green oasis was originally created for the royal ladies and their attendants, offering them a peaceful retreat away from the heat of Rajasthan. The garden is renowned for its lush lawns, stunning fountains, marble pavilions, and tranquil lotus pond. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll under canopy-lined walkways, relax by the fountains, or simply take in the beauty of this regal monument.
The garden is a testament to the architectural genius of the time, incorporating fountains designed to mimic the sound of rain, a favorite of the Queen. Today, Saheliyon Ki Bari is open to the public, offering a glimpse into the royal lifestyle and providing a refreshing escape in the arid landscape of Rajasthan.
History
The garden was constructed between 1710 and 1734 by Maharana Sangram Singh for his queen and her 48 maids. Its design was carefully planned, with water drawn from the nearby Fateh Sagar Lake to feed the fountains and lotus pond, creating a green retreat for the royal women. The Queen’s love for the sound of rain inspired the creation of numerous fountains throughout the garden, replicating the soothing monsoon ambiance.
