Overview
Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, built in 1573, is one of the most admired mosques in Ahmedabad, famous for its exquisite stone latticework (jali). Located in the heart of the city, this architectural gem is renowned for its intricate carvings depicting intertwined trees and foliage. It represents the peak of Gujarat Sultanate’s architectural brilliance and is considered one of the finest examples of Indo-Islamic design.

Key Features
The mosque is most famous for its ten stunning jalis, which are ornate carvings of trees, believed to symbolize the Kalpa tree. Each window is a masterpiece of stone craftsmanship, requiring over 40 artisans to complete. The central arch, however, remains incomplete, as construction was halted after the Mughal invasion. The mosque’s design has also inspired the logo of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

History
The mosque was commissioned by Sidi Saiyyed, a nobleman under the Gujarat Sultanate. It was completed in the final year of the Sultanate's reign before the Mughal conquest. Over time, it has become an iconic symbol of Ahmedabad and is now managed by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to visit is from November to February, when the weather is most pleasant.
