Vintage Car Museum, Udaipur Overview
Located just a few kilometers from the majestic City Palace, the Vintage Car Museum in Udaipur is a paradise for automobile enthusiasts and a fascinating diversion from the city’s famous forts and lakes.
This unique museum showcases a stunning collection of vintage automobiles that were once owned by the royal Mewar dynasty, known for its lavish lifestyle. The collection includes iconic models such as Rolls Royce and Mercedes, custom-made for the Mewar royals.
Originally the Mewar State Motor Garage, the museum is now managed by the HRH Group, headed by Rana Shri Arvind Singh Mewar, the current heir to the Mewar family. Inaugurated in 2000 by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, founder of the National Motor Museum of England, the museum features several remarkable displays. Among the highlights are the 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom, featured in the famous James Bond movie Octopussy, and the Cadillac convertible that escorted Queen Elizabeth in 1961. Car lovers will be thrilled by other vintage gems like additional Rolls Royces, Cadillacs, and more, all reflecting the royal grandeur of a bygone era.
